miserable

We didn’t get that storm they referred to as the «Santa bomb» … last night I saw something about the ‘Santa balm’ instead. This morning it’s balmy 13ºC, fog and drizzle. A little warm wind coming in from the south. Not exactly the Christmas weather I’m used to, with glistening snow.

We didn’t do anything in particular, nothing different really, from what we do an ordinary night. Netflix Canada, I think is a real let-down. We’ve had it now for perhaps three years and nothing has improved. No old movies or stuff like that. To hook up to Netflix US is way too tiresome, and then we’d have to pay for a VPN too — it just isn’t worth it. You’d have to be an avid movie watcher to do that.

Today, I’m going to cook a turkey breast in the oven. The cookies I made the other night, actually taste good, even though they don’t have the shape they’re supposed to.

McDuff had lots of shrimp yesterday, and also some type of pastrami. He’s very much affected by low pressure, so now he just became very low and is pressed up against my desk here.

  1. Merry Christmas to you Rebby & G. & McDuff…our ‘Santa Bomb’ was a dud too…a bit of rain & drizzle & a bit of wind & it was 10 C overnite. It tried to snow here earlier but nothing stuck to the ground.
We have had a quiet day also. Spoke to Niece & her children; had coffee with my neighbor; played with Siddhartha; answered blog replies & now reading blogs….a nice quiet day…
Going to have Oktoberfest sausage & baked potato & mixed veg for supper.
Might sneal some more Toblerone choccie afterwards 😉
    Love to all, Sherri-Ellen
P.S.: Please give McDuff kisses from me ok???

    1. That sounds great! As we were having an early supper, now this afternoon, the bad weather left. We have such a wide view of the sky from up here, and in a minute the whole scenario was changed — the sun came out! The wind must have changed too, now the air is fresh again, and not heavy with moisture.
McDuff sends little kisses and head butts right back 🙂

  2. We had Sun here for about 15 minutes this morning….I sent it your way 😉 Well I tried anyway!
It is cooler here now & the air is clear too.
What a weird Winter so far isn’t it Rebby???

    Sweet McDuff I adore him!

    1. It’s so good when the mugginess goes away! This morning was the worst!

He’s the sweetest little guy! When there’s this low pressure, he gets very low too … low to the floor, slides away, looking like a ferret or something LOL

    1. It’s like when they get really scared of something … or the behaviour as you see in lions when they go after a prey … they become really low!

    1. He’s definitely scared when it happens … he does it when the cleaning lady is vacuuming the corridor outside too. This, about the weather, I think is he feels the change in pressure — he might even get a headache — he doesn’t know what’s going on, so he does that thing. If it’s really bad he goes into his condo under the kitchen sink! 🙂

  3. Hmm do you think being up higher makes McDuff more sensitive to barometric changes??
Siddhartha does NOT like the vacuum either. I have only vacuumed once sine he arrived. I have to do it tomorrow & I do bedroom first with door closed. Then I put Dharth into bedroom & vacuum rest of place. That causes the least stress to him.
Dharth loves hanging out under the sink too for fun! LOL…

    1. No, he was like that in QC too! I thought they all did that! LOL

I guess you’ll have to take it easy with the vacuum for a while. Nobody likes the vacuum … me included.

  4. Hmm that is odd. Nylablue always knew when it would snow or rain; she’d just lie down & watch out the window alot.
I wish vacuums were not so noisy. I only have a Eureka broom vacuum but it is noisy!!!

  5. Why do you hate the bagless one? I love just emptying the cup & rinsing out when needed. So easy…
I have never heard a ‘quiet’ vacuum, have you??? LOL…..

    1. Well … guess I’ve found a technique to empty the cup … inside a plastic bag. There are three filters, and they seem to clog all the time.

Should have gone for a Dyson right away..

  6. Good technique! I empty mine right into kitchen garbage bag so nothing hits the floor. I only have 1 filter so that is easy! I DO have to turn electric broom upside down & cut all my hair to unwind it off the roller, hahaha!
Now that is some chore! LOL
I notice there is no longer Nylablue’s fur in with it. Siddhartha barely sheds at all….

    1. Walmart sold the damned thing, and now they’re not carrying this model anymore, so no filters either. Bleh. It’s a well-known brand.

  7. Ah good old WalMart! That is where I bought the Eureka broom vacuum…
Also why I went bagless; so I would not get stuck w/out bags….things seemed easier years ago, lol….

    1. Yeah … that was my reason too, won’t have to remember what kind of bags it used! And now I ended up with no filters instead?! dyson doesn’t use any filters..

    1. Yes, why? And why don’t appliances last more than five years anymore … ten in the very best of cases! My mum’s old vacuum and coffee machine still work!

  8. So the manufacturers’ can make more money is why!! I still have my ORIGINAL Proctor-Silex Iron from 1973 when I first got married. And my crockpot was bought in 1991 & works perfectly.
Mind you my TV; VCR & stereo are all 10 yrs old!!!

    1. Yes, they can make them so they break down at a given time. The worst is if you’ve bought many appliances at the same time!

  9. That always happens to me now…all the electronics breakdown at the same time! Drives me crazy!
Thankfully I have a push button phone so if the cordless one dies I can still call people & the PC will work. At elast with new flat screen RV’s that will be easier to carry….when the time comes…. 😉

    1. One of the phones here is a corded one. I bought a set of three; two cordless and the main unit that has a cord. I wanted that, in case of power outage. I’m a little obsessed with phones, or communication.

The TV is more than two years now. I’m afraid of it LOL … mainly because it has so much stuff so I wouldn’t know how to deal with it. It’s called Smart TV, otherwise we couldn’t get Netflix on it.

  10. I am a bit obbssessed with communciation also. I do not like being cut off from the rest of the world!
I had to order a free digital adapter for the TV. It really is not complciated. At least I can watch my basic cable w/out ‘snow’ on the screen…like the old days with black & white, lol.

    1. Yes, I feel that I must be able to call 911 at all times.

This thing has apps ‘n stuff. They came here from FutureShop and installed it. I could have done that myself. We haven’t had any problems with it, so I’ve been lucky. We haven’t watched as much Netflix as we thought we would. We like to watch old movies, and they don’t have much of that. No Bells of St. Mary’s for me this year LOL

  11. I have 911 service & Hydro One emergency number so I feel fairly secure. I keep a push button phone for calling out on during blackouts. And I bought a new flashlite too. New lighter also & candles. Have extra food & water too.
There are so many APPS on these new phones I would be confused. I am happy w/out a cellphone 😉

    1. Yeah, there’s so much stuff … that’s why I’m not ready to give up the trusty landline. Don’t know if I ever will…
